Summary of Bill HR 2495

Bill 119 HR 2495, also known as the Medical Nutrition Therapy Services for Eating Disorders Act, aims to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to include coverage of medical nutrition therapy services for individuals with eating disorders under the Medicare program.

The bill recognizes the importance of providing comprehensive care for individuals struggling with eating disorders, which are serious mental health conditions that can have severe physical consequences. Medical nutrition therapy is a crucial component of treatment for eating disorders, as it helps individuals develop healthy eating habits and address nutritional deficiencies.

If passed, this bill would ensure that individuals with eating disorders who are covered by Medicare have access to the necessary medical nutrition therapy services. This would help improve the overall health and well-being of these individuals and potentially reduce the long-term healthcare costs associated with untreated eating disorders. Overall, the Medical Nutrition Therapy Services for Eating Disorders Act seeks to address a gap in coverage for individuals with eating disorders under the Medicare program and provide them with the support they need to recover and lead healthier lives.
