Summary of Bill S 5417
Bill 118 s 5417, also known as the "Medicaid State Plan Residency Requirement for Armed Forces Members Act," aims to make changes to title XIX of the Social Security Act in order to address the residency determination of certain individuals serving in the Armed Forces.
The bill proposes to add a new requirement to the Medicaid State plan, which would specifically address how residency is determined for members of the Armed Forces. This is important because members of the military often move frequently due to their service obligations, which can complicate their eligibility for Medicaid benefits in certain states.
By establishing a clear residency requirement for military members within the Medicaid State plan, this bill seeks to ensure that these individuals are able to access the healthcare benefits they need, regardless of where they are stationed or where they may have previously resided. Overall, the goal of Bill 118 s 5417 is to streamline the process for determining residency for military members seeking Medicaid benefits, ultimately making it easier for them to access the healthcare services they require.
