Summary of Bill S 3039
Bill 118 s 3039, also known as the Federal Kratom Consumer Protection Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The bill aims to regulate the production and sale of kratom products in order to protect consumers from potential harm.
Kratom is a plant native to Southeast Asia that has gained popularity in the United States for its alleged medicinal properties. However, there have been concerns raised about the safety and quality of kratom products, as well as the potential for abuse and addiction.
The Federal Kratom Consumer Protection Act seeks to address these concerns by establishing guidelines for the production, labeling, and sale of kratom products. The bill would require kratom manufacturers to adhere to strict quality control standards, including testing for contaminants and ensuring accurate labeling of ingredients. Additionally, the bill would prohibit the sale of kratom products to individuals under the age of 18 and require retailers to obtain a license in order to sell kratom. Violations of these regulations could result in fines or other penalties. Overall, the Federal Kratom Consumer Protection Act aims to ensure that consumers have access to safe and accurately labeled kratom products, while also addressing concerns about potential abuse and addiction. The bill is currently being considered by Congress and has garnered support from both Democrats and Republicans.
