Summary of Bill S 2814
Bill 118 s 2814, also known as the Jumpstart on College Act, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to provide support and resources to high school students to help them better prepare for college.
One of the key provisions of the Jumpstart on College Act is the establishment of a grant program that would provide funding to schools to offer college preparatory courses. These courses would focus on subjects such as math, science, and English, and would help students develop the skills they need to succeed in college.
Additionally, the bill aims to increase access to college counseling services for high school students. This would include providing guidance on the college application process, financial aid options, and career planning. Another important aspect of the Jumpstart on College Act is the creation of a mentorship program that would pair high school students with college students or professionals in their field of interest. This mentorship would provide students with valuable guidance and support as they navigate the college application process and prepare for their future careers. Overall, the Jumpstart on College Act seeks to address the barriers that many high school students face in accessing and succeeding in higher education. By providing support, resources, and mentorship, this bill aims to help students better prepare for college and ultimately achieve their academic and career goals.
