Bill 118 s 233, also known as the African American History Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of promoting the study and understanding of African American history in schools and educational institutions across the country. The bill seeks to ensure that the contributions and experiences of African Americans are properly recognized and integrated into the curriculum.
The African American History Act proposes the establishment of a grant program to support the development and implementation of African American history education programs in schools. These programs would cover a wide range of topics, including the history of slavery, the civil rights movement, and the achievements of African American leaders in various fields.
Furthermore, the bill calls for the creation of a national commission on African American history, which would be responsible for conducting research, providing resources, and promoting the teaching of African American history. The commission would also work to identify and preserve important historical sites and landmarks related to African American history. Overall, the African American History Act aims to ensure that the history and contributions of African Americans are given the recognition and attention they deserve in the education system. By promoting a more inclusive and accurate understanding of American history, the bill seeks to foster greater unity and understanding among all citizens.
