Interactive Federal Review Act
3/13/2024, 2:43 AM
Summary of Bill S 2319
Bill 118 s 2319, also known as the Interactive Federal Review Act, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main purpose of this bill is to establish a new process for federal agencies to receive feedback and input from the public on proposed regulations.
Under the Interactive Federal Review Act, federal agencies would be required to create online platforms where individuals and organizations can submit comments and suggestions on proposed regulations. These platforms would also allow for public discussions and debates on the potential impacts of these regulations.
The bill aims to increase transparency and public participation in the regulatory process, ensuring that the voices of all stakeholders are heard before final decisions are made. It also seeks to streamline the review process, making it more efficient and accessible to the general public. If passed, the Interactive Federal Review Act would represent a significant step towards improving the regulatory process in the United States, promoting greater accountability and responsiveness from federal agencies. Supporters of the bill argue that it would lead to better-informed decision-making and ultimately result in more effective and fair regulations. Opponents, however, have raised concerns about the potential for abuse and manipulation of the online platforms, as well as the additional burden it may place on federal agencies to manage and respond to the increased volume of public feedback. Overall, the Interactive Federal Review Act represents an important effort to modernize and democratize the regulatory process in the United States, and its passage would likely have far-reaching implications for how federal regulations are developed and implemented.
