Summary of Bill S 2179

Bill 118 s 2179, also known as the Clean Cooking Support Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of addressing the issue of clean cooking solutions in developing countries. The bill recognizes that over 3 billion people worldwide rely on traditional cooking methods such as open fires and inefficient stoves, which can have negative impacts on health, the environment, and economic development.

The Clean Cooking Support Act seeks to promote the adoption of clean cooking technologies and fuels by providing funding for research, development, and implementation of these solutions. The bill also aims to increase access to clean cooking options for vulnerable populations, such as women and children, who are disproportionately affected by the health and environmental consequences of traditional cooking methods.

Additionally, the legislation calls for the establishment of a Clean Cooking Fund, which would support initiatives to improve access to clean cooking solutions in developing countries. The fund would be used to provide grants, loans, and technical assistance to organizations working to promote clean cooking technologies and fuels. Overall, the Clean Cooking Support Act is a bipartisan effort to address the global challenge of traditional cooking methods and their impact on health, the environment, and economic development. By promoting the adoption of clean cooking solutions, the bill aims to improve the quality of life for millions of people around the world while also contributing to a more sustainable future.
