Summary of Bill S 2028
Bill 118 s 2028, also known as the Expediting Natural Gas Exports to Allies Act of 2023, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of streamlining the process for exporting natural gas to US allies. The bill seeks to promote energy security and strengthen diplomatic relationships by facilitating the export of natural gas to countries that are considered allies of the United States.
The main provisions of the bill include expediting the approval process for natural gas exports to countries that are members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) or are designated as Major Non-NATO Allies. This would involve reducing regulatory barriers and increasing the efficiency of the approval process in order to make it easier for US natural gas producers to export their products to these countries.
Additionally, the bill aims to enhance coordination between various government agencies involved in the approval process for natural gas exports, such as the Department of Energy and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. By improving communication and cooperation between these agencies, the bill seeks to ensure a more streamlined and efficient process for approving natural gas exports to US allies. Overall, the Expediting Natural Gas Exports to Allies Act of 2023 is designed to promote energy security, strengthen diplomatic relationships, and support US natural gas producers by facilitating the export of natural gas to countries that are considered allies of the United States.
