Bill 118 s 171, also known as the Ending Discrimination in COVID–19 Treatments Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of preventing discrimination in the treatment of individuals with COVID-19. The bill seeks to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their race, ethnicity, national origin, or any other characteristic, have equal access to testing, treatment, and care for COVID-19.
The bill specifically prohibits healthcare providers and facilities from denying individuals access to COVID-19 testing, treatment, or care based on discriminatory reasons. It also prohibits the denial of access to vaccines or other preventive measures based on discriminatory reasons.
Furthermore, the bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to develop and implement guidelines to prevent discrimination in COVID-19 treatment. These guidelines would include recommendations for healthcare providers on how to ensure equitable access to testing, treatment, and care for all individuals. Overall, the Ending Discrimination in COVID–19 Treatments Act aims to ensure that all individuals receive fair and equal treatment in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, regardless of their background or characteristics.
