Bill 118 s 1627, also known as the PRECEPT Nurses Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress that aims to address the shortage of nurses in the healthcare industry. The bill focuses on expanding the use of preceptorship programs, which are designed to provide new nurses with hands-on training and mentorship from experienced nurses.
The PRECEPT Nurses Act proposes to establish a grant program that would provide funding to healthcare facilities to support the implementation of preceptorship programs. These programs would help new nurses gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their roles, ultimately improving patient care and outcomes.
Additionally, the bill includes provisions to incentivize healthcare facilities to participate in preceptorship programs, such as offering tax credits or other financial incentives. It also calls for the development of guidelines and best practices for implementing and evaluating preceptorship programs to ensure their effectiveness. Overall, the PRECEPT Nurses Act aims to address the nursing shortage by investing in the training and development of new nurses through preceptorship programs. By providing support and resources to healthcare facilities, the bill seeks to improve the quality of care provided to patients and strengthen the nursing workforce in the United States.
