Summary of Bill S 1015
Bill 118 s 1015, also known as the "Pleasant Valley Ranger District Administrative Site Conveyance Act," is a piece of legislation that aims to transfer ownership of the Pleasant Valley Ranger District Administrative Site from the Secretary of Agriculture to Gila County, Arizona. The site is currently under the jurisdiction of the Forest Service and is used for administrative purposes related to managing the Pleasant Valley Ranger District.
The bill specifies that the conveyance of the site must be done at no cost to Gila County and that the county must use the site for public purposes that are consistent with the purposes for which it was originally acquired. Additionally, the bill requires Gila County to cover any costs associated with the conveyance process.
Supporters of the bill argue that transferring ownership of the site to Gila County will allow for more efficient and effective management of the land, as local officials are more familiar with the needs and priorities of the community. However, opponents may raise concerns about potential conflicts of interest or the loss of federal oversight of the site. Overall, the bill aims to streamline the management of the Pleasant Valley Ranger District Administrative Site by transferring ownership to Gila County, Arizona, and ensuring that the site continues to be used for public purposes.
