Summary of Bill HR 9869
Bill 118 hr 9869, also known as the Gold Star Children Education Act of 2024, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of providing educational support to children of military service members who have died in the line of duty. The bill seeks to ensure that these children have access to quality education and support services to help them succeed academically and emotionally.
Under the Gold Star Children Education Act, eligible children would receive financial assistance for educational expenses such as tuition, books, and school supplies. The bill also includes provisions for counseling and mental health services to help these children cope with the loss of a parent and navigate the challenges of growing up without one.
Additionally, the bill aims to improve coordination between schools, military organizations, and other support services to ensure that Gold Star children receive the assistance they need to thrive in school and beyond. By providing these resources and support systems, the Gold Star Children Education Act of 2024 seeks to honor the sacrifice of military families and help their children reach their full potential.
