2/5/2024, 2:30 PM

Summary of Bill HR 4468

Bill 118 HR 4468, also known as the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales Act of 2023, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main purpose of this bill is to promote competition and consumer choice in the automobile retail sales industry.

If passed, the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales Act of 2023 would prohibit automobile manufacturers from requiring their dealers to adhere to certain restrictive practices, such as limiting the number of dealerships in a certain area or preventing dealers from selling multiple brands of vehicles. This would give dealers more freedom to operate their businesses in a way that best serves their customers and allows for more competition in the marketplace.

Additionally, the bill would also prevent manufacturers from retaliating against dealers who choose to sell vehicles through alternative sales channels, such as online platforms or direct-to-consumer sales. This would help to level the playing field for dealers and ensure that consumers have more options when it comes to purchasing a new vehicle. Overall, the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales Act of 2023 aims to promote a more competitive and consumer-friendly automobile retail sales industry by giving dealers more freedom to operate their businesses and by preventing manufacturers from engaging in anti-competitive practices. It is currently being debated in Congress and may have a significant impact on the way that vehicles are bought and sold in the United States.
