Summary of Bill HR 3880

The PAID Act, also known as Bill 118 hr 3880, is a piece of legislation that was introduced in the US Congress. The main purpose of this bill is to address the issue of surprise medical billing, which occurs when patients receive unexpected bills from out-of-network healthcare providers.

The PAID Act aims to protect patients from these surprise bills by establishing a fair and transparent process for resolving billing disputes between healthcare providers and insurance companies. Under this bill, healthcare providers would be required to give patients advance notice of any out-of-network services they may receive, as well as an estimate of the costs involved.

Additionally, the PAID Act would establish an independent dispute resolution process to help resolve billing disputes between providers and insurers. This process would involve a neutral third party mediator who would help both parties come to a fair and reasonable resolution. Overall, the PAID Act seeks to protect patients from surprise medical bills and ensure that they are not financially burdened by unexpected healthcare costs. It aims to create a more transparent and fair system for resolving billing disputes, ultimately benefiting both patients and healthcare providers.
