Summary of Bill HR 3775
Bill 118 HR 3775, also known as the Corey Adams Searchlight Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The bill is named after Corey Adams, a Michigan man who tragically passed away after becoming lost in the wilderness. The purpose of the bill is to improve search and rescue efforts for missing persons, particularly those with special needs such as autism.
The Corey Adams Searchlight Act aims to establish a program within the Department of Justice that would provide grants to law enforcement agencies and non-profit organizations to purchase tracking technology and training for search and rescue operations. This technology would include devices such as GPS trackers and infrared cameras, which can help locate missing individuals more quickly and efficiently.
The bill also emphasizes the importance of training law enforcement officers and first responders on how to effectively search for and communicate with individuals with special needs. This training would help ensure that search and rescue efforts are conducted in a way that is sensitive to the unique needs of individuals who may have difficulty communicating or understanding instructions. Overall, the Corey Adams Searchlight Act seeks to improve the coordination and effectiveness of search and rescue efforts for missing persons, particularly those with special needs. By providing funding for technology and training, the bill aims to increase the chances of locating missing individuals quickly and bringing them to safety.
