2/5/2024, 2:30 PM

Summary of Bill HR 3701

Bill 118 hr 3701, also known as the Foster Youth Dental Act of 2023, aims to improve access to dental care for foster youth in the United States. The bill recognizes that foster youth often face barriers to receiving adequate dental care, which can have long-term negative effects on their overall health and well-being.

The key provisions of the bill include:

1. Establishing a grant program to provide funding to states for the provision of dental services to foster youth. This funding can be used for preventive care, restorative treatment, and other necessary dental services. 2. Requiring states to develop and implement a plan to ensure that all foster youth have access to regular dental check-ups and treatment as needed. This plan must address issues such as transportation to dental appointments, coordination of care between foster parents and dental providers, and ensuring that foster youth are enrolled in Medicaid or other insurance programs that cover dental services. 3. Providing training and support for foster parents and caregivers on the importance of dental care for foster youth, as well as how to help foster youth maintain good oral hygiene habits. Overall, the Foster Youth Dental Act of 2023 seeks to address the disparities in dental care access faced by foster youth and ensure that they receive the necessary care to support their overall health and well-being.
