Summary of Bill HR 3617
Bill 118 hr 3617, also known as the "Wig and Traction Alopecia Treatment Expansion Act," aims to amend title 10 of the United States Code to broaden the scope of services covered under the TRICARE program. Specifically, the bill seeks to provide coverage for wigs and treatment for traction alopecia, a type of hair loss caused by excessive pulling or tension on the hair follicles.
The TRICARE program is a health care program for active duty service members, retirees, and their families. Currently, TRICARE does not cover the cost of wigs or treatment for traction alopecia. This bill would change that by expanding the authority of TRICARE to include coverage for these services.
The purpose of this bill is to ensure that individuals who suffer from traction alopecia, particularly those in the military community, have access to the necessary resources to address their condition. By providing coverage for wigs and treatment, this legislation aims to improve the quality of life for those affected by traction alopecia. Overall, the "Wig and Traction Alopecia Treatment Expansion Act" is a targeted effort to enhance the TRICARE program and better support the health and well-being of service members and their families.
