Summary of Bill HR 3316
Bill 118 hr 3316, also known as the Streamlining Environmental Review for Major Projects Act, aims to make the environmental review process for major projects more efficient by amending titles 46 and 49 of the United States Code. The bill seeks to reduce the time and resources required for environmental reviews while still ensuring that projects are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner.
The main goal of the bill is to streamline the process for obtaining environmental permits and approvals for major projects, such as infrastructure developments and transportation projects. By doing so, the bill aims to expedite the completion of these projects, which can often be delayed by lengthy environmental review processes.
In addition to streamlining the environmental review process, the bill also includes provisions to ensure that projects are still subject to thorough environmental assessments and that any potential environmental impacts are properly addressed. This includes requirements for public input and consultation with relevant stakeholders. Overall, the Streamlining Environmental Review for Major Projects Act seeks to strike a balance between expediting the approval process for major projects and ensuring that environmental concerns are adequately addressed. The bill is currently under consideration in Congress and has garnered support from both Democrats and Republicans.
