Bill 118 hr 3315, also known as the National Guard and Reservists Debt Relief Extension Act of 2023, is a piece of legislation that aims to provide financial relief to members of the National Guard and Reserves who are struggling with debt. The bill seeks to extend the provisions of the National Guard and Reservists Debt Relief Act of 2008, which currently provides certain debt relief protections to these service members.

Specifically, the bill would extend the period during which National Guard and Reserve members are protected from certain debt collection actions, such as wage garnishment and repossession of property, while they are on active duty. This extension would provide these service members with additional financial security and peace of mind while they are serving their country.

Additionally, the bill includes provisions to ensure that National Guard and Reserve members are informed of their rights under the law and have access to resources to help them navigate the debt relief process. This includes requiring the Department of Defense to provide information and assistance to service members regarding their rights and responsibilities under the law. Overall, the National Guard and Reservists Debt Relief Extension Act of 2023 aims to support and protect the financial well-being of National Guard and Reserve members who are serving their country. By extending and enhancing debt relief protections for these service members, the bill seeks to alleviate financial stress and ensure that they can focus on their duties without the burden of overwhelming debt.
