Summary of Bill HR 3192

The PFAS Registry Act of 2023, also known as Bill 118 hr 3192, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress aimed at addressing the issue of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination. PFAS are a group of man-made chemicals that have been linked to a variety of health problems, including cancer, immune system disorders, and developmental issues.

The main goal of the PFAS Registry Act is to establish a national registry to track individuals who have been exposed to PFAS chemicals. This registry would collect and maintain information on individuals who have been exposed to PFAS through drinking water, air, soil, or other sources. The registry would also track health outcomes and provide resources for individuals who have been affected by PFAS exposure.

In addition to establishing the registry, the bill also includes provisions for funding research on the health effects of PFAS exposure, as well as measures to clean up PFAS contamination in communities across the country. The bill aims to increase transparency and accountability in addressing the PFAS crisis and to ensure that those who have been affected by PFAS exposure receive the support and resources they need. Overall, the PFAS Registry Act of 2023 is a comprehensive piece of legislation that seeks to address the growing problem of PFAS contamination in the United States. By establishing a national registry and providing resources for research and clean-up efforts, the bill aims to protect the health and well-being of individuals who have been exposed to these harmful chemicals.
