Summary of Bill HR 3017
Bill 118 hr 3017, also known as the PI Post Acute Access Act, aims to improve access to post-acute care services for patients with spinal cord injuries. The bill was introduced in the House of Representatives on May 5, 2021, by Representative Mike Thompson from California.
The main goal of the PI Post Acute Access Act is to ensure that individuals with spinal cord injuries have timely access to the necessary post-acute care services, such as rehabilitation and therapy, to help them recover and improve their quality of life. The bill seeks to address barriers that currently exist in accessing these services, such as limited availability and high costs.
Specifically, the bill would establish a grant program to support the development and expansion of post-acute care services for individuals with spinal cord injuries. It would also require the Department of Health and Human Services to conduct a study on the current state of post-acute care services for individuals with spinal cord injuries and make recommendations for improving access and quality of care. Overall, the PI Post Acute Access Act aims to improve the lives of individuals with spinal cord injuries by ensuring they have access to the necessary care and support to help them recover and thrive. The bill has bipartisan support and is currently being considered by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
