Summary of Bill HR 3006
Bill 118 hr 3006, also known as the "Library Social Worker Act," aims to establish a grant program through the Department of Education to facilitate the placement of students and licensed professional social workers in public libraries across the United States. The primary goal of this program is to provide additional support and resources to individuals in need within their communities.
The bill recognizes the important role that public libraries play in serving as a hub for community resources and information. By placing social workers in these libraries, individuals facing various challenges such as mental health issues, homelessness, or substance abuse can receive the assistance they need in a familiar and accessible setting.
Through the grant program, public libraries will be able to partner with educational institutions to provide students studying social work with valuable hands-on experience. Additionally, licensed professional social workers will be able to offer their expertise and support to individuals in need within the community. Overall, the Library Social Worker Act aims to enhance the services and resources available to individuals in need by leveraging the resources and accessibility of public libraries. By providing support through social workers, this bill seeks to address the diverse needs of communities across the country in a proactive and effective manner.
