The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, also known as Bill 118 hr 2892, is a piece of legislation that was introduced in the US Congress. The purpose of the WARN Act is to protect workers by requiring employers to provide advance notice of plant closings and mass layoffs.

Under the WARN Act, employers with 100 or more employees are required to provide at least 60 days notice before closing a plant or conducting a mass layoff that affects 50 or more employees. This advance notice gives workers and their families time to prepare for the loss of income and seek new employment opportunities.

The WARN Act also requires employers to provide notice to affected employees, their representatives, and local government officials. Failure to comply with the WARN Act can result in penalties for employers, including back pay and benefits for affected employees. Overall, the WARN Act aims to protect workers from sudden job loss and provide them with the opportunity to plan for their future. It is an important piece of legislation that helps to ensure fairness and transparency in the workplace.

I can't believe this new bill is going to make it harder for companies to give employees advance notice of layoffs. It's going to be so stressful not knowing if I'll have a job or not. Why would they pass something like this?
