Summary of Bill HR 247

Bill 118 hr 247, also known as the Chisholm National Historic Trail and Western National Historic Trail Designation Act, is a piece of legislation that aims to designate two historic trails in the United States. The first trail, the Chisholm National Historic Trail, would commemorate the historic cattle-driving route that ran from Texas to Kansas in the late 19th century. This trail played a significant role in the development of the American West and the cattle industry.

The second trail, the Western National Historic Trail, would recognize the historic routes used by pioneers and settlers as they traveled westward during the 19th century. These trails were essential in the expansion of the United States and the settlement of the western frontier.

The bill seeks to preserve and protect these historic trails for future generations to learn about and appreciate the important role they played in American history. It also aims to promote tourism and economic development in the areas surrounding the trails. Overall, the Chisholm National Historic Trail and Western National Historic Trail Designation Act is a bipartisan effort to honor and preserve the rich history of the American West through the designation of these two important historic trails.
