Summary of Bill HR 1629
Bill 118 hr 1629, also known as the Hemp and Hemp-Derived CBD Consumer Protection and Market Stabilization Act of 2023, aims to regulate the production and sale of hemp and hemp-derived CBD products in the United States. The bill seeks to protect consumers by ensuring that these products meet certain quality and safety standards.
Under the provisions of the bill, hemp and hemp-derived CBD products would be subject to testing and labeling requirements to ensure that they contain the appropriate levels of CBD and do not exceed the legal limit of THC, the psychoactive compound found in marijuana. The bill also establishes a regulatory framework for the cultivation, processing, and sale of hemp and hemp-derived CBD products, including licensing requirements for producers and distributors.
Additionally, the bill includes provisions to address the issue of market stabilization by establishing a national hemp marketing program to promote the sale and consumption of hemp products. This program would be funded through fees collected from producers and distributors of hemp and hemp-derived CBD products. Overall, the Hemp and Hemp-Derived CBD Consumer Protection and Market Stabilization Act of 2023 seeks to ensure that consumers have access to safe and high-quality hemp and hemp-derived CBD products, while also promoting the growth of the hemp industry in the United States.
