12/15/2023, 3:55 PM
Summary of Bill HR 1364
The bill outlines several key provisions, including the creation of a Grizzly Bear Management Advisory Council. This council would be responsible for developing and implementing a science-based management plan for grizzly bears, taking into account factors such as population size, habitat availability, and potential threats to the species.
Additionally, the bill calls for increased funding for research and monitoring of grizzly bear populations, as well as the development of strategies to mitigate conflicts between grizzly bears and humans. This includes measures to reduce human-bear interactions in areas where the two species are likely to come into contact. Overall, the Science-Based Grizzly Bear Management Act of 2023 aims to ensure the long-term viability of the grizzly bear population in the United States while also addressing the concerns of local communities and stakeholders. By taking a science-based approach to management, the bill seeks to strike a balance between conservation efforts and the needs of those who live and work in grizzly bear habitat.
