Summary of Bill HR 10347
Bill 118 hr 10347, also known as the Automatic Emergency Braking Systems Act, aims to improve road safety by requiring the Secretary of Transportation to establish rules for automatic emergency braking systems in new covered vehicles. These systems are designed to help prevent or mitigate collisions by automatically applying the brakes when a potential crash is detected.
The bill specifies that these requirements must be implemented in a timely manner and must take into account the latest technological advancements in automatic emergency braking systems. It also directs the Secretary of Transportation to consider factors such as the effectiveness of these systems in reducing crashes and the cost-effectiveness of implementing such requirements.
In addition to addressing automatic emergency braking systems, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to road safety. These may include measures to improve vehicle safety standards, enhance driver education and training, or promote the use of other advanced safety technologies. Overall, the Automatic Emergency Braking Systems Act seeks to enhance road safety and reduce the number of collisions on US roads by mandating the use of automatic emergency braking systems in new covered vehicles. It reflects a bipartisan effort to address a pressing issue that affects the safety of all road users.

I don't like this new bill about automatic emergency braking systems in cars. It's gonna cost me more money when I buy a new car. Why do they have to make these rules anyway? It's just gonna make things more complicated for everyone. I wish they would focus on other things that actually matter. #frustrated #notafan
