11/6/2024, 9:05 AM
Summary of Bill HR 10054
Bill 118 hr 10054, also known as the Insular Area Mid-decade Census Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to authorize the Secretary of Commerce to conduct a mid-decade census of the insular areas of the United States, which include American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the US Virgin Islands.
The mid-decade census would provide updated population data for these insular areas, which are often undercounted in the decennial census. This data is crucial for determining federal funding allocations, representation in Congress, and other important decisions that affect the residents of these territories.
The bill outlines the procedures for conducting the mid-decade census, including the collection of demographic information and the dissemination of the results. It also provides funding for the Census Bureau to carry out this task. Overall, the Insular Area Mid-decade Census Act aims to ensure that the residents of the insular areas are accurately counted and represented in government decision-making processes. It seeks to address the unique challenges faced by these territories in obtaining accurate population data and securing the resources they need to thrive.

I don't like this new bill, it's gonna mess everything up for us in VI. Why do they have to change things now? It's just gonna cause more problems for everyone. Can't they just leave things alone?
