12/29/2022, 9:48 PM
Summary of Bill HR 6952
The RAISE Act, also known as Bill 117 hr 6952, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to reform the current immigration system in the United States. The main goal of the RAISE Act is to prioritize immigrants who are highly skilled and have the potential to contribute to the US economy.
One of the key provisions of the RAISE Act is the implementation of a points-based system for evaluating potential immigrants. This system would take into account factors such as education level, English proficiency, job skills, and age. By prioritizing immigrants with these qualities, the RAISE Act aims to attract individuals who are more likely to succeed in the US and contribute positively to the economy.
Additionally, the RAISE Act seeks to reduce the number of family-based visas available to immigrants. Currently, a significant portion of US immigration is based on family ties, but the RAISE Act aims to shift the focus towards employment-based immigration. This change is intended to ensure that immigrants coming to the US are able to support themselves and contribute to the economy. Overall, the RAISE Act is a comprehensive piece of legislation that aims to reform the US immigration system in order to prioritize highly skilled immigrants who have the potential to contribute to the economy. By implementing a points-based system and reducing family-based visas, the RAISE Act seeks to attract individuals who will benefit the US and help drive economic growth.
