Summary of Bill HR 6820

The CRISIS Act, also known as Bill 117 hr 6820, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to address the ongoing mental health crisis in the United States by providing funding and resources to support individuals in crisis.

One of the key provisions of the CRISIS Act is the establishment of a national mental health crisis hotline, similar to the existing 911 emergency hotline for physical emergencies. This hotline would be staffed by trained professionals who can provide immediate support and guidance to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.

Additionally, the bill allocates funding for mental health crisis intervention teams, which would be dispatched to assist individuals in crisis situations. These teams would include mental health professionals, law enforcement officers, and other relevant personnel to ensure that individuals receive the appropriate care and support. The CRISIS Act also aims to improve access to mental health services by expanding telehealth options and increasing funding for mental health clinics and treatment facilities. This would help to ensure that individuals in crisis have access to the care they need, regardless of their location or financial situation. Overall, the CRISIS Act is a comprehensive piece of legislation that seeks to address the mental health crisis in the United States by providing funding, resources, and support to individuals in crisis. If passed, this bill has the potential to make a significant impact on the mental health and well-being of individuals across the country.
