FARM Act of 2021
12/30/2022, 8:03 AM
Summary of Bill HR 5859
One of the main provisions of the FARM Act is the establishment of a grant program to help farmers and ranchers implement conservation practices on their land. This program would provide financial assistance to producers who are looking to adopt sustainable farming methods, such as cover cropping, crop rotation, and soil health management. By incentivizing these practices, the bill aims to promote environmental stewardship and improve the long-term viability of agricultural operations.
In addition to supporting conservation efforts, the FARM Act also includes provisions to address food security and rural development. The bill seeks to expand access to healthy and affordable food in underserved communities, particularly in rural areas where access to fresh produce and other nutritious foods may be limited. By investing in programs that support local food systems and increase access to healthy foods, the bill aims to improve the overall health and well-being of rural residents. Overall, the FARM Act of 2021 is a comprehensive piece of legislation that seeks to support and strengthen the agricultural sector in the United States. By promoting sustainable farming practices, addressing food security issues, and investing in rural development, the bill aims to ensure the long-term success and viability of American farmers and ranchers.
