Summary of Bill HR 5212

Bill 117 HR 5212, also known as the Improving Oversight of Women Veterans' Care Act of 2021, aims to address the unique healthcare needs of women veterans by improving oversight and accountability within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The bill requires the VA to conduct a comprehensive review of its policies and procedures related to the care and treatment of women veterans. This includes ensuring that women veterans have access to gender-specific healthcare services, such as maternity care and mental health services tailored to their needs.

Additionally, the bill mandates that the VA establish a Women Veterans Task Force to provide recommendations on how to improve the quality and availability of healthcare services for women veterans. The task force will also be responsible for monitoring the implementation of these recommendations and reporting back to Congress on their progress. Furthermore, the bill requires the VA to collect and report data on the utilization of healthcare services by women veterans, as well as the quality of care they receive. This data will be used to identify areas for improvement and ensure that women veterans are receiving the care they deserve. Overall, the Improving Oversight of Women Veterans' Care Act of 2021 seeks to ensure that women veterans receive the same high-quality healthcare services as their male counterparts. By improving oversight and accountability within the VA, this bill aims to address the unique healthcare needs of women veterans and provide them with the care and support they need and deserve.
