Summary of Bill HR 4774
Bill 117 HR 4774, also known as the Landowners' Right to Due Process in Rehearings at FERC Act of 2021, aims to address concerns regarding the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and its handling of rehearings related to landowner rights. The bill specifically focuses on ensuring that landowners have the opportunity to participate in the rehearing process and have their voices heard.
The bill requires FERC to provide notice to all affected landowners when a rehearing is requested, giving them the opportunity to submit comments or participate in the process. It also mandates that FERC consider any new evidence or arguments presented by landowners during the rehearing, ensuring that their concerns are taken into account.
Additionally, the bill establishes a timeline for FERC to issue a decision on a rehearing, preventing unnecessary delays in the process. This timeline helps to ensure that landowners receive timely decisions on their concerns and are not left in limbo. Overall, Bill 117 HR 4774 seeks to protect the rights of landowners in the FERC rehearing process, ensuring that they have a fair and transparent opportunity to participate and have their concerns addressed. By providing due process to landowners, the bill aims to promote fairness and accountability in FERC's decision-making process.
