12/30/2022, 5:32 PM
Summary of Bill HR 3701
Bill 117 hr 3701, also known as the Protecting Infrastructure and Promoting Economic Growth Act or PIPE Act, was introduced in the US Congress with the aim of improving the permitting process for natural gas pipelines. The bill seeks to streamline the approval process for pipeline projects by establishing deadlines for federal agencies to make decisions on permit applications.
The PIPE Act also includes provisions to enhance coordination between federal, state, and local agencies involved in the permitting process. This is intended to reduce delays and ensure that pipeline projects can move forward in a timely manner while still meeting all necessary regulatory requirements.
Additionally, the bill includes measures to improve transparency and accountability in the permitting process. It requires federal agencies to provide regular updates on the status of permit applications and to publicly disclose the reasons for any delays or denials. Overall, the PIPE Act is aimed at promoting economic growth by facilitating the development of critical infrastructure projects while also ensuring that environmental and safety considerations are taken into account. The bill has received bipartisan support in Congress and is currently under consideration in committee.
