The bill also includes provisions to improve food labeling practices to help consumers better understand the expiration dates on food products and reduce confusion that can lead to unnecessary food waste. Additionally, the National Food Waste Reduction Act would provide funding for research and development of new technologies and strategies to reduce food waste, as well as support for food recovery and donation programs. Overall, the National Food Waste Reduction Act is aimed at addressing the significant issue of food waste in the United States by implementing a comprehensive approach that involves stakeholders at all levels of the food supply chain. If passed, this legislation has the potential to make a significant impact in reducing food waste and promoting sustainability in the food industry.
