4/17/2024, 11:44 PM

Summary of Bill HR 2512

Bill 117 hr 2512, also known as the Chisholm National Historic Trail and Western National Historic Trail Designation Act, is a piece of legislation that aims to designate two historic trails in the United States. The first trail, the Chisholm National Historic Trail, would commemorate the historic cattle-driving route known as the Chisholm Trail, which played a significant role in the development of the American West in the late 19th century. The second trail, the Western National Historic Trail, would recognize the historic routes used by pioneers and settlers as they traveled westward during the 19th century.

The bill seeks to preserve and protect these historic trails for future generations to learn about and appreciate the important role they played in shaping American history. It also aims to promote tourism and economic development in the areas surrounding the trails by attracting visitors interested in learning about the history of the American West.

If passed, the Chisholm National Historic Trail and Western National Historic Trail Designation Act would provide funding for the maintenance and upkeep of the trails, as well as for the development of interpretive materials and educational programs to help visitors learn about the history of the trails. The bill has received bipartisan support in Congress and is currently being considered by the relevant committees.
