Summary of Bill HR 1893

Bill 117 HR 1893, also known as the Transportation Security Preparedness Act of 2021, aims to enhance the security measures in place for transportation systems across the United States. The bill focuses on improving the preparedness and response capabilities of transportation security agencies, such as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

One key aspect of the bill is the requirement for transportation security agencies to conduct regular risk assessments and develop comprehensive security plans for all modes of transportation, including airports, seaports, and public transportation systems. These plans must address potential threats and vulnerabilities, as well as outline strategies for preventing and responding to security incidents.

Additionally, the bill calls for increased coordination and information sharing among federal, state, and local transportation security agencies to ensure a unified and effective response to security threats. This includes the establishment of a National Transportation Security Coordination Center to facilitate communication and collaboration between different agencies. Furthermore, the bill includes provisions for enhancing the training and resources available to transportation security personnel, as well as improving the technology and infrastructure used to secure transportation systems. This includes investments in advanced screening technologies, cybersecurity measures, and emergency response capabilities. Overall, the Transportation Security Preparedness Act of 2021 aims to strengthen the security of transportation systems in the United States and ensure that they are prepared to respond to evolving security threats. By enhancing coordination, planning, and resources, the bill seeks to improve the safety and security of travelers and transportation workers nationwide.
