Summary of Bill HR 292

Bill 119 hr 292, also known as the Grape Freeze Insurance Act, aims to amend the Federal Crop Insurance Act to mandate the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation to conduct research and development on a policy that would provide insurance coverage for table, wine, and juice grapes in the event of a freeze. This bill is designed to address the specific risks faced by grape growers, who are vulnerable to significant losses due to freezing temperatures.

The proposed policy would offer protection to grape growers against financial losses resulting from freeze events, which can damage or destroy grape crops. By conducting research and development on this insurance policy, the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation aims to provide grape growers with a safety net that can help mitigate the financial impact of freeze-related losses.

In addition to focusing on grape crops, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to crop insurance. Overall, the Grape Freeze Insurance Act seeks to support the grape industry by offering a specialized insurance option that addresses the unique challenges faced by grape growers in the face of freeze events.
