Summary of Bill HR 244

Bill 119 hr 244, also known as the TRICARE Select Expansion Act, aims to amend title 10 of the United States Code to extend eligibility for TRICARE Select to veterans with service-connected disabilities. TRICARE Select is a health care program for military personnel, retirees, and their families.

Under the current system, veterans with service-connected disabilities are only eligible for TRICARE benefits if they are retired from the military or have reached a certain age. This bill seeks to expand access to TRICARE Select for all veterans with service-connected disabilities, regardless of their retirement status or age.

The purpose of this legislation is to ensure that all veterans with service-connected disabilities have access to quality health care through TRICARE Select. By extending eligibility to this group of veterans, the bill aims to improve their overall health and well-being. In addition to providing eligibility for TRICARE Select to veterans with service-connected disabilities, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes. These additional provisions are not specified in the summary, but may include measures to improve access to health care services, streamline administrative processes, or address other issues related to veterans' health care. Overall, the TRICARE Select Expansion Act is a bipartisan effort to support veterans with service-connected disabilities by expanding their access to health care services through the TRICARE program. This legislation is an important step towards ensuring that all veterans receive the care and support they need and deserve.
