Congressional Summary of HR 5880

This bill amends title II (Old Age,Survivors and Disability Insurance) (OASDI) of the Social Security Act to direct the Department of Health and Human Services to establish cost-effective procedures to ensure that a Social Security account number (or a derivative) is not displayed, coded, or embedded on a Medicare card issued to an individual entitled to benefits under part A (Hospital Insurance) or part B (Supplementary Medical Insurance) of title XVIII (Medicare) of that Act, and that any other identifier displayed on the card is not identifiable as such an account number.
