Purpose and Summary

Special Interest Alien Reporting Act of 2024 [sic]

This bill requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to report every month on non-U.S. nationals (aliens under federal law) who attempt to unlawfully enter the United States and who potentially pose a national security risk. DHS must report on (1) the number of individuals, (2) the nationalities or countries of last residence of these individuals, and (3) the location of the encounters.

Bill 119 hr 275, also known as the "Special Interest Alien Transparency Act," aims to increase transparency regarding the number of special interest aliens (individuals from countries that have shown a tendency to promote, produce, or protect terrorist organizations) encountered while attempting to enter the United States illegally. The bill requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to publish a monthly report detailing the number of special interest aliens encountered by border patrol agents.

The purpose of this legislation is to provide the public and policymakers with more information about the potential security threats posed by special interest aliens attempting to enter the country. By requiring regular reporting on this issue, the bill aims to enhance national security efforts and ensure that appropriate measures are in place to address any potential risks.

Overall, the Special Interest Alien Transparency Act seeks to improve transparency and accountability within the Department of Homeland Security and strengthen the country's ability to protect against potential threats from individuals with ties to terrorist organizations.
