Improving Menopause Care for Veterans Act of 2025

This bill requires the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to study and report on the medical services furnished by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for veterans experiencing perimenopause, genitourinary syndrome of menopause, and menopause stages. The VA must also report to Congress on a strategic plan to (1) implement any recommendations GAO makes in its report, (2) improve the quality of menopause care, and (3) improve the access of veterans to menopause care.

Bill 119 HR 219, also known as the Menopause Care Study Act, aims to direct the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a study on the menopause care provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the current state of menopause care for female veterans within the VA system and identify any areas for improvement.

The bill recognizes the unique healthcare needs of female veterans, particularly in relation to menopause care, which can have a significant impact on their overall health and well-being. By conducting this study, lawmakers hope to gain a better understanding of the quality and accessibility of menopause care within the VA, as well as any barriers that may exist for female veterans seeking this type of care.

In addition to the study on menopause care, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to improving healthcare services for female veterans. This includes assessing the availability of menopause care providers within the VA system, as well as evaluating the training and education provided to VA healthcare providers on menopause care. Overall, Bill 119 HR 219 seeks to address the specific healthcare needs of female veterans experiencing menopause and ensure that they have access to high-quality, comprehensive care within the VA system. By conducting this study, lawmakers hope to identify areas for improvement and ultimately enhance the healthcare services available to female veterans in need of menopause care.
