The State Department shall periodically report to Congress on the status of national security councils in these countries.

The CONVENE Act of 2023, also known as Bill 118 s 3547, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of improving transparency and accountability in government. The bill seeks to establish a new commission called the Commission on Congressional Oversight, Verification, and Enforcement of National Ethics (CONVENE) to oversee and enforce ethical standards among members of Congress.

The CONVENE Act proposes that the commission be composed of bipartisan members appointed by the President, with the goal of ensuring a fair and balanced approach to ethics enforcement. The commission would have the authority to investigate allegations of ethical misconduct by members of Congress, as well as to recommend appropriate disciplinary actions.

Additionally, the bill includes provisions for increased transparency in government by requiring members of Congress to disclose any financial interests or conflicts of interest that may influence their decision-making. The CONVENE Act also aims to strengthen whistleblower protections for individuals who report unethical behavior within the government. Overall, the CONVENE Act of 2023 is designed to promote integrity and accountability in government by establishing a new commission to oversee and enforce ethical standards among members of Congress.
