3/12/2024, 3:20 PM

Summary of Bill S 2027

Bill 118 s 2027, also known as the Reverse Transfer Efficiency Act of 2023, aims to streamline the process of transferring credits between two-year and four-year institutions for students who have completed coursework at both types of schools. The bill seeks to improve the efficiency of reverse transfer programs, which allow students who have transferred from a two-year to a four-year institution to retroactively earn an associate's degree by transferring credits back to their original school.

The Reverse Transfer Efficiency Act of 2023 includes provisions to establish a national database of student records to facilitate the transfer of credits between institutions. This database would allow schools to easily access and verify student transcripts, making the process of awarding degrees more efficient and less burdensome for students.

Additionally, the bill includes measures to provide funding for institutions to implement and improve reverse transfer programs, as well as incentives for schools to participate in these programs. By incentivizing schools to participate in reverse transfer programs and providing funding for implementation, the bill aims to increase the number of students who are able to earn an associate's degree through credit transfer. Overall, the Reverse Transfer Efficiency Act of 2023 seeks to make the process of transferring credits between two-year and four-year institutions more efficient and accessible for students, ultimately increasing the number of students who are able to earn an associate's degree through reverse transfer programs.
