The Yes In My Backyard Act, also known as Bill 118 s 1688, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to address the ongoing housing crisis in many parts of the country by incentivizing local governments to eliminate restrictive zoning laws that limit the construction of new housing.

The bill aims to encourage local governments to adopt more inclusive zoning policies that allow for the development of affordable housing units. It does this by providing financial incentives to communities that take steps to reduce barriers to housing construction, such as minimum lot sizes, parking requirements, and height restrictions.

Additionally, the Yes In My Backyard Act seeks to increase transparency and accountability in the zoning process by requiring local governments to report on their progress in implementing more inclusive zoning policies. This information would be made publicly available in order to hold communities accountable for their efforts to address the housing crisis. Overall, the Yes In My Backyard Act is a bipartisan effort to promote more equitable and sustainable housing policies across the country. By incentivizing local governments to adopt more inclusive zoning practices, the bill aims to increase access to affordable housing for all Americans.
