This bill revises requirements related to public disclosure of official lists of eligible voters.

Currently, each state must maintain for public disclosure, for a minimum two-year period, all records pertaining to the accuracy and currency of official lists of eligible voters. This bill requires these records to also include lists of the names and addresses of all registrants who were inactive (i.e., the registrant failed to respond to a notice about a change in residence) and the length of time each registrant was inactive.

The bill also requires each state to biennially submit a report to the Election Assistance Commission that includes information about inactive registrants in the state.

Bill 118 hr 4317, also known as the Voter List Maintenance Act, aims to amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. The main purpose of this bill is to require states to submit a report to the Election Assistance Commission detailing their voter list maintenance activities. This report would include information on how states are updating and maintaining their voter lists to ensure accuracy and prevent voter fraud.

The bill seeks to improve the integrity of the voter registration process by holding states accountable for maintaining accurate and up-to-date voter lists. By requiring states to report on their voter list maintenance activities, the Election Assistance Commission can monitor and assess the effectiveness of these efforts.

Overall, the Voter List Maintenance Act is designed to promote transparency and accountability in the voter registration process, ultimately enhancing the integrity of elections in the United States.
