Access to AEDs Act

This bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to award grants to local educational agencies (LEAs), including public charter schools operating as LEAs under state law, to promote student access to defibrillation in elementary and secondary schools.

The Access to AEDs Act, also known as Bill 118 hr 2370, aims to increase access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in public places across the United States. AEDs are portable devices that can be used to deliver an electric shock to the heart in cases of sudden cardiac arrest, potentially saving lives.

The bill requires that federal buildings, facilities, and properties owned or leased by the federal government have at least one AED on site. It also encourages states to implement similar requirements for state-owned or leased buildings. Additionally, the bill provides grants to schools, community centers, and other public entities to purchase and maintain AEDs.

The Access to AEDs Act emphasizes the importance of AEDs in saving lives and aims to make these life-saving devices more readily available in public spaces. By increasing access to AEDs, the bill seeks to improve the chances of survival for individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
