Additionally, any personnel policy developed or implemented by a military department with respect to members of the Armed Forces must ensure equality of treatment and opportunity for all persons, without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, and sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, or sex characteristics).

Bill 118 hr 1808, also known as the Ensuring Military Readiness Not Discrimination Act, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The bill aims to ensure that all members of the military are treated fairly and equally, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. It seeks to create a more inclusive and diverse military force, while also promoting military readiness and effectiveness.
