The bill seeks to increase the amount of benefits provided through SNAP, as well as expand eligibility criteria to ensure more individuals have access to this important program.

Additionally, the bill includes provisions to increase funding for programs that support access to nutritious food, such as the Farmers Market Nutrition Program and the Healthy Food Financing Initiative. These programs aim to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly in underserved communities where healthy food options may be limited. The Improving Access to Nutrition Act of 2023 also includes measures to promote nutrition education and awareness, particularly among children and families. The bill includes funding for nutrition education programs in schools, as well as initiatives to increase access to nutrition information and resources in communities. Overall, the bill seeks to address the issue of food insecurity and improve access to nutritious food for all Americans, particularly those in low-income communities. By expanding programs like SNAP, increasing funding for nutrition initiatives, and promoting nutrition education, the bill aims to create a healthier and more food-secure nation.
