Right to Contraception Act

This bill sets out statutory protections for an individual's right to access and a health care provider's right to provide contraception and related information. Contraception refers to an action taken to prevent pregnancy, including the use of contraceptives (i.e., a device or medication used to prevent pregnancy), fertility-awareness based methods, and sterilization procedures.

Generally, the bill prohibits measures that single out and impede access to contraception and related information. However, a party may defend against a claim that a measure violates the bill's prohibitions by demonstrating, through clear and convincing evidence, that the measure significantly advances access to contraception and cannot be achieved through less restrictive means.

The Department of Justice, individuals, or health care providers may bring a lawsuit to enforce this bill, and states are not immune from suits for violations.

Bill 117 HR 8373, also known as the Right to Contraception Act, is a piece of legislation currently being considered in the US Congress. The main purpose of this bill is to ensure that individuals have access to contraception without facing any barriers or restrictions.

The bill aims to achieve this by prohibiting any form of discrimination against individuals seeking contraception, including denial of coverage by insurance providers or refusal of services by healthcare providers. It also seeks to ensure that contraception is affordable and easily accessible to all individuals, regardless of their income or insurance status.

Additionally, the Right to Contraception Act includes provisions to protect the privacy and confidentiality of individuals seeking contraception, as well as to ensure that healthcare providers are trained and equipped to provide accurate information and services related to contraception. Overall, the goal of Bill 117 HR 8373 is to promote reproductive health and autonomy by guaranteeing individuals the right to make informed decisions about their own bodies and reproductive choices.
